Obituary of Pearl Gloria Beckles

Pearl Gloria Beckles, daughter of the late Lydia Ann Downes and Donald Downes, was born December 29, 1924. She passed on September 4, 2018.

Born in Barbados West Indies. 

Mother to the late Grace Gloria Singleton- Downes who was her only child.  Pearl moved to Brooklyn, New York after the birth of 2nd grand child to help her daughter take of the children.

She worked taking care of a Dr and his family in Long Island faithfully for 25 years. And still every morning would come and help out with her now 3 grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents, Pearl is predeceased by her sister Erna and her only child Grace. She is survived by two sisters Joyce and Lydia and her only brother Eroy. Pearl also leaves behind a son in law James Singleton who has cared for her after the passing of her only child Grace in 2000.  Also three grand children from her beloved daughter Grace,  the oldest Jacquet Singleton and her 4 great grand children Reginald, Joel, and twin girls Jamiece and Grace.  Her oldest grandson Lindsay Singleton and 5 great grandchildren Lindsay(LB) who and great she referred to as her little mailman, Kelsey, Devon, and twin boys Lorenzo and Xavier and youngest grandson Clarence Bishop and great grandson Ikari and step grandson Jehmar and also nieces and nephews that loved her dearly. 

Pearl was a fun loving church going person who would give her last to make sure everyone was taking care of.  She would tell jokes when ever we would visit. Her light and spirit would truly be remembered and deeply and truly missed
