Obituary of Betty L. Wellington

Betty Shaw Wellington was born May 10, 1946 in Florence, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Ada and Sam Preston. Betty was called home to glory on May 13, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, New York at 6:02am.

Betty attended P.S. 38 NY City Public School throughout elementary and later graduated from John Jay High School. She went on to work for Bell Atlantic/Verizon and eventually retired after 26 years.

She loved to dance, cook and sing but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She had a smile that would light up a room and to know her was to love her. She had a kind heart and would help anyone in need with the style and class of a true queen; it was always a pleasure to be in her presence.

She leaves to mourn, her husband Kenneth Wellington, sister Frances Fowler and brother-in-law Ivory Bowles. Three daughters, Danielle Cherry, Stormy and Kedean Wellington and three sons, Dwayne L. Shaw, Jason and Kennard Wellington, six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Betty will forever be in our hearts, she will be greatly missed.
